The core of our business is our commercial work. We work with facility owners and managers on tenant improvements, upgrades, new builds, and maintenance. Our network of contractors and sub-contractors routinely hire us for the electrical portion of their installations and use us as referrals for ancillary work. We regularly work on government facilities, public works, prevailing wage work, and we have the training to execute complex electrical operations with extensive experience.
R&D Electric regularly works with Industrial production and manufacturing facilities to upgrade and install new equipment, additions, and facility improvements. We have regular maintenance contracts with multiple facilities, including plants, factories, gas stations, and medical facilities. Depending on the service required, we can perform routine service inspections, time and materials fixes, and we can help to create a schedule and budget for ongoing upgrades. We work or coordinate with in-house maintenance staff, and can leverage a network of engineers and design professionals to provide turnkey solutions.
One of our lines of busines with installation and design expertise is Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for commercial and industrial applications. We are regional partners for several large developers that use us for EPC contracting for multiple facilities and multiple clients. We have worked with many different technologies for peak shaving, solar plus storage, backup power and un-interrupted power supply (UPS) systems.
As deployment of Electric Vehicles (EV) continues in both residential and fleet applications, EV charging infrastructure is becoming a key factor for commercial facilities. R&D Electric has installed campus wide EV infrastructure for employee parking, revenue generating parking stalls, and in fleet applications. As more fleets become electrified, we have been working on fast charging solutions. Combined with our expertise in both interconnections and Energy Storage projects, we have the experience to install fleet charging in a way that mitigates risk from loss of power.
Commercial parking lots are an opportunity in today’s electrified world. Adding a solar canopy can lower facility OPEX costs, generate rental income, or produce utility power and income for savvy owners, all with a second benefit of shade cover. R&D Electric can coordinate all construction aspects of installing a solar canopy and manage construction in a facility focused, professional way. We work with facilities specs, with facility engineers, or as subcontractors for electrical only or entire installations.
Maintaining great client relationships means maintaining electrical systems that have been installed. Our service work in the commercial and industrial markets matches the needs of our clients. For commercial facilities we have regular ongoing services in conjunction with Tennant Improvements, upgrades, and regular problem solving. We have service level agreements (SLA) with certain industrial clients, such as gas stations, manufacturing facilities, etc. where we are in agreement to dispatch for ongoing service requests. Contact us on our SERVICE CALLS page to discuss your needs and see how we can help.
Facility managers, Property Management and Real Estate companies need ongoing support for upgrading new vacancies and tenant upgrades. This is best done with great relationships with vendors that can support your property over time, and build projects with both financial value, and preparation for future use and documentation. We work on private bid lists and perform with a focus on repeat business and ongoing client relationships.
Our expertise in construction management and electrical installations has made us experts in value engineering. We not only consult for engineering firms, developers, and facility owners to vet out the most practical design, but we also support projects where we design and generate plan sets for construction. We have several excellent engineering firms that we work with, and in conjunction with our reviews, we are also experts at permitting, utility coordination, and consulting.
Projects often call for Third Party Installation (TPI) when developers or GCs generate the master plan or financial models. We regularly work from plan sets in invite only bidding or competitive bidding scenarios. Our strategy has remained true to our values of providing excellent service so that we can work with the same client on multiple projects. For that reason, we do our best to review plans and RFI before the bid goes out, and include as much scope as needed to deliver the project. The best success for us is a project with no change orders.
big part of any project on an existing building is the interconnection. We have executed scores of interconnections in conjunction with afterhours requirements for facilities, utility coordination, and testing agencies. We consult for interconnection by others, including bus flag design and engineering consulting. Many renewable energy companies use our electricians and manager for this portion of work, because it is high risk and challenging and requires true expertise.
